Second Grade Scoop September 17-21st
Things are rolling now in 2nd grade! Please continue to review agendas and feel free to use them to communicate any routine changes or questions you have. This upcoming week will be Safety Week so students will be practicing what to do in various situations. Important Dates: Friday, September 21 - No School for Students Tuesday, September 25 - Family Night (5:30-7:00). Please RSVP by Wed. Sept. 19th. Wednesday, September 26- Picture Day Curriculum: Readers Workshop : We are building our stamina as readers and trying to read more books and for a longer time each day. This week we started practicing strategies like stop, think, and retell, as well as using Post It notes to write down thoughts to discuss with a partner. I can't believe it's May! As we near the end of the school year, we will begin our end of the year assessments. This week Mrs. Zobel's class will have their math MAP test on Tuesday, and Mr. Skurr's will be on Wednesday . Upcoming Events: May 9th - 2nd Grade Concert (6:30pm) May 21st -Family Night-Tailgate and Treats- Look for more information to come soon May 29th - Kaukauna History & Government Field Trip (permission slips came home last week ) Curriculum Updates: Reading Students will continue to read in nonfiction topic clubs. This week we will be choosing new topics and focusing on main ideas and key details. We'll spend time time developing our ideas through club conversations as well. Writing We will be continuing our lab reports. Last week students wrote up two reports!
