We look forward to making a difference as a school!

Birthdays
As student birthdays are popping up, just a quick reminder that if your child would like to bring
in treats, please send in a store bought goodie as there are food allergies in the classroom.
However, students do not need to bring a treat and could decide to give classmates a small gift
(pencil, eraser), make a donation to the classroom (board games, books), or bring nothing at
all - we will still celebrate their special day!

Curricular Updates
Reading Workshop
We've been continuing our work of becoming stronger readers by thinking about the meaning
of words (as used in the sentence) and checking ourselves as readers to make sure things
make sense.

Writing Workshop
This week we did a mini writing celebration so we could share a favorite part of a small moment
book that each student has written. We are now looking at ‘master authors’ and learning how
we can look at what the masters do to help us become strong writers.

Math
We've started doing word problems and are using our careful reading skills, along with our
math skills, to solve these problems.

Science
The caterpillars are now in the chrysalis stage and we are eagerly waiting for them to make
their final change into butterflies. Hopefully it will happen this week!

Have a great weekend!
