Second Grade Scoop April 1st

Our biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up! The 7th Annual Knowledge-A-Thon will be held on Friday, April 5th. All of the  proceeds go back to NDLC! The evening of April 5 from 6:00-8:00 there will be a celebration dance . The theme this year is We Are Out of This World! Hello, It was nice visiting with you this week for conferences. The students did a great job leading the meetings and putting their voice into the discussion. Hello, I am looking forward to our portfolio conferences this week. Students are looking forward to sharing how much they have grown so far this year in second grade! Knowledge-A-Thon information came home last week. Please practice these questions with your child over the next couple of weeks. The Knowledge-A-Thon will be held Friday, April 5th. Upcoming Events: Friday, March 22nd-No School for Students Curriculum Updates: Writing -We are finishing up our poetry unit this week. Students will be publishing their own anthologies. Reading - Book clubs will be setting goals to help deepen conversations and understanding of their books this week. Math- We finished our unit on 2-digit subtraction last week. Our new unit focuses on telling time, graphs, and word problems. By the end of the unit, students are expected to tell time to the nearest five minutes on an analog clock. March 11-15th

Clocks have sprung forward and spring is almost here! I am hoping that the saying is true - If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb. I am really looking forward to taking advantage of warmer, longer days. Just a reminder that our portfolio conferences are coming up on March 19th and 21st. You should have gotten an email link from Mrs. Frischmann last week to sign up. Please use this link to choose a time if you haven't signed up yet. This Friday is a special day: Wear Green Curriculum Updates: Fundations -Just a reminder that homework for our word study program, Fundations, will be sent home at the beginning of each unit. Second Grade Scoop Week of March 4th

We made it through our first full week in awhile last week! It was great to get back into our regular routines. March 8th - 11:30am Release March 19th and 21st - Conferences (more information about signing up will be coming soon) March 22nd - No School This week our Service Group will be starting a Penny War to purchase books for the Children's Hospital. Students can bring in pennies for their classroom or silver coins (or dollars) to count against another classroom's pennies. There will be a pizza lunch for the classroom that collects the most pennies.
