Second Grade Scoop April 15th

We have a short but busy half week coming up!
  • On Monday students should bring in an egg for the schoolwide Egg Crack Off competition. Second graders are also asked to wear green for that day.
  • Our field trip to the Barlow Planetarium is on Tuesday. We will leave around 12:40pm and should return by 2:30.
  • If you want to order books from the Scholastic forms sent home a couple weeks ago, the due date is April 16th.
  • Lastly, Running Club will continue this week for those that have signed up. It will only be on Tuesday after school (weather looks to be good).

Upcoming Events:
April 17th - Early Release 11:30am
April 18th - 22nd - No School

Curriculum Updates:
Reading: This week students will be learning how to debate topics from fiction books. They will have to take a side and be able to support that side of the debate by using text evidence.
Writing: Students will be polishing up their opinion letters on fiction books and have a mini celebration to share their letters with classmates.
Math: We will finish Unit 7 on Monday. Our final unit in Math is focusing on 3 digit addition and working with numbers up to 1,000.
Fundations: We continue to work on the spelling patterns ee, ey and e in multisyllabic words.
Content: Ms. Zobel’s class has continued to study Kaukauna history with Mr. Skurr. Students were given a sheet to do a scavenger hunt and look for and record the names and dates built of some of the older buildings in town. Mr. Skurr’s class learned to identify frogs by their unique calls and investigated which of two locations had a greater variety of frogs.
