Second Grade Scoop April 8th

Hello,
Students did an amazing job with their KAT questions. They all received NDLC flashlights with light up pens. So cool!!

 Please return Barlow Planetarium permission slips by Wednesday, April 10th. If you'd like to order books from the book order, they are due April 16th.

Running club starts this Tuesday from 3:10-3:50. If your child would still like to join and you need a permission slip, let me know!

Curriculum Updates:

Reading & Writing:  We are continuing to work on learning about characters from reading and using that to help guide our opinion letter writing. The more that we learn about characters, the more we are able to formulate strong opinions for our writing. We are also studying author's craft in reading.

Math: We have been working on length word problems and number line diagrams. We will be finishing up our unit at the end of this week.

Fundations: We will be focusing on the vowel teams of ee, ea and ey. We will learn that ey can only be used at the end of words. Homework practice will come home on Monday.

Content: Mr. Skurr's class has been learning about animal classification. Ms. Zobel's class continues to explore Kaukauna history.

Second Grade Scoop January 28-February 1st

It's another exciting week at New Directions' Learning Community. On Monday morning Dr. Berkers will be visiting our classroom to present about dental health.  On Tuesday we will be visiting the Performing Art Center to view Charlotte's Web.
